RAK attack...

I can't believe how few and far between I've posted for the month of May! Remember the months when I used to have a post every single day? Sometimes more than one post in a day? What happened to those times? Less buying and talking about them...but I can't say I've gotten more scrapping done either!

But to wave goodbye to the second last day of the month, I've got a couple pictures for you!

I have been attacked by RAKs from the WONDERFUL, OH SO FABULOUS Marti from Pez-a-Doodle!!! Not once, but TWICE in the last two weeks ALONE!

Check it out:

Couple weeks ago, I got...

Those fun BIC markers that everyone on The Board has been trying out, YUMMALICIOUS, brilliantly luminescent dew drops and distress embossing powder and a beautiful, alter-able wooden box! w00t!
Today, I come home to THIS:

BEAUTIFUL card made by M herself!!! I can't believe I've been looking at this card and making comments about how I WISH I WISH I could see it in real life - and it was really for ME!

I told you, that UTEE/perfect pearls technique looks good enough to eat!

SKITTLE STARS!!! For packages all for me to play with!!! And ANOTHER awesome wooden box - I can't believe these are like, $10+ at my M's...

And last but not least, my Studio G order (those weren't part of the RAK...LOL) but inside there are also some fun little things to play with and alter as well that she threw in AND ANOOOOTHER wooden box for me to alter!

I can't wait to get out all my tools and play things and get to PLAYING!!!

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH, MARTI!!!

LOOOOOVES YOU LONG TIME!

Isn't it ironic...

...dontcha think? A little tooooo ironic, yeah I really do think.

Well goodmorning, à la Alanis Morrissette, to you! I woke up a bit groggy, but not to worry, I made it online just fine and I'm not late (just yet) because I woke up extra early to get some things done. Really can't be late today...because that would probably make it almost every day this week. Honestly, I have no idea what kind of picture I'm painting of myself to you all out there, but I SWEAR I'm a good worker. Really...I'd hire me... ......

Sooooo...YO from The Boards was talking about how it was all thanks to our little man, The Bug, that brought the peeps (I keep wanting to say ladies, but then I remember Jason, so they'll all just be my peeps instead) from The Board together. If it wasn't for us having an obsession (hey who put that!) I mean, LOVE for all things scrappy, none of us would have met. And to me, the irony is that we all met because of The Bug and I haven't been using mine as much as I thought I would when I first ordered it. I mean, who has the TIME when I'm BUYING everything I read about and making some FABULOUS friends along the way?

Can I get a little after-school special here? I just wanted to take the time to mention that I LOVE The Board. It's capitalized for a reason. Whatever is on that board is 100% me. I mean, IRL, I'm pretty much exactly the same way, but that takes awhile for me when I'm meeting new people. For some reason, I get all wallflowery around new people, so I have a hard time making new friends. Oh and also because I don't really want to. All through highschool and university, I was pretty much a one or two REAAAALLY close friends instead of having like a million friends (who probably talk about me behind my back) kind of person. It's simpler...but on The Boards, I've met so many fantastic people and like IRL, I've met some REALLY good people that are turning into REALLY good friends.

So there it is. I'm very happy to have 'met' you all and I have been having the most FABULOUS time with everyone and of course, buying everything. *big fuzzy hugs*

.....and cut. That's a wrap folks...

Here's some up-coming new releases to be made for sale on my Etsy!

I Heard It Through The Grapevine

Leaves and Berries

These babies were done up using alcohol ink (can I say that everytime I try to write alcohol, it always comes out as alcoholic first for some reason. Then when I'm reading back, I'm like....how come the ink is alcoholic? Is it down and out? Is it battling depression? )

Please let it be known that I am a NEW number one fan of alcohol inks and Perfect Pearls! They are OH SO PRETTY and if judunno what I'm talking about, then you need to get you some ASAP. Marti's got lots, go over there and tell her I sent you and nothing will happen except for the fact that she'll just think you're name-dropping. HAHAHAHAAA, sorry, I know peeps, but I don't have those kinds of connections. Besides, her Perfect Pearls and alcholics (LOL - I'm not even going to bother changing that one) are cheaper than you can get at M's any day PLUS way more colours! My eyes got all wide and starry when I said WAY more colours because there's a lot and by a lot that means you can mix and match until the next blue moon!

P.S. PLEASE do be careful...this is INKS we're talking about here...and my left hand....well, it's pretty much inked for the next little while...

I love how Photobucket has finally gotten down with their bad selves and updated the way we can upload pictures. NICE!

So that'll be all from me for now, I DID say I wasn't going to be late today...LOL. Hope everyone has a nice day today too, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping - and probably dropping their little bits onto my car - but things are coming up all sunshine and daisies. Feeling a little low? Do yourself (and someone else) a favour and do a little RAK, you'll like yourself more after :)

P.S. If you read the new names for my beads...who's got I Heard it Through the Grapevine stuck in their head now? And for those who didn't have it before...do you have it now? Teehee...

That's the spirit!

...I LOVE getting mail. I think it's one of my top favourite things next to shopping and scrapping/cardmaking!

Yesterday, after a particularly hairy day at the office, I was raging to get home to have a MAJOR vent session with The Mister.

I'm usually always the first one home so my "job" is to go get the mail, and what do you know, there's something there for ME (besides the ginormous credit card statements that I've been receiving thanks to all YOU ladies on The Board)! I open it up and there are my beautiful spirit ladies from Kris Price! SO nice of her. She was the very first person to offer to RAK me something!

After everyone went crazy over the grab bags and started saying they weren't really like the spirit dancers, I think I commented that I thought they were nice and next thing I know, I've got a PM from someone offering to send me hers!

To be honest, I've only ever heard about RAK's only after I joined The Board, so I'm not used to people sending things to me and not asking me to pay for them. I'm still a bit uncomfortable accepting things, but I did make her a thank you card with the stamps that she sent!

Have a looky-look:

I used these small 1x1 stamp pads that I'd gotten for like, $2 for 6 of them at a surplus store. Kind of went crazy with those and used each colour on my cardstock, inking directly. After that, I opted to stamp my lady with my brown ink and the sentiment as well. I also used some little decorative swirly stamps to fill in the empty spaces. I had bought this really fine glitter from M's (with the Paper Dolls that I bought!) and wanted to experiment with it, to see if I could use glitter without making a glittery mess on everything including myself and I think it worked out fairly well! I used my ZIG pen, sprinkled the glitter on top and fixed everything with hairspray!

So there's my Thank You card from here. Inside, I stamped a Thanks a Bunch message using my Studio G wood-mounted stamp and coloured it in using my Prismas and mineral spirit. Hope she likes it!

RAK's make the world go 'round...

...well, all...it looks like my first board RAK went quite well. I got a lot of responses and some great stories and laughs were told and had!

I went through the posts and put all the contributors on a scrap piece of paper and had The Mister take a break out of his busy gaming schedule to choose the names.

I'd like to congratulate the winners:

  1. Plumeriastix
  2. birdseye7776
  3. Hollygtn

And thanks again to everyone who participated and were great sports about the confessions!

Spring has sprung...

...in my scraproom! In honour of my finally getting WIMG and some Studio G stamps, I am hosting a RAK on The Board (which can I say I'm getting a TEENY TINY bit annoyed with - just with all the drama that keeps popping up. Maybe it's just me that just never has no idea what's going on so I don't see a lot of it, but the draaaama. Anyways, one of my posts got hijacked and turned into something else but I'm not even going to get into it. I said my final say and I'm just going to let it get buried under all the new posts).

OMG...I got sidetracked by silliness. Back to the more fun things. So anyways, to go with the theme of my blog and the huge M's sale that's happening, I wanted to know if anyone else had any confessions they would like to come clean with. I will choose three winners to win one of these three sets:

Two little sample packs of micro pellets and a Studio G stamp set. Out of the three winners, the one with the biggest confession will also get the card that I made using both WIMG and the beads. Which is this:

C'mon...come clean!

A little ventilation...

...and a little acknowledgement is NOT too much to ask.

I have an issue today. Not the usual shopping/mental issues that are normal for me...but an actual issue with an actual person about an actual situation.

I don't want to post it on The Board as it seems there has been enough drama there lately (of which I knew nothing about - and I thought I was all caught up!).

SoOoOo...I participated in a RAK earlier last month and I was very excited as it would have been the first time I'd be RAK-ing anything for anyone on the board.

I sent a card and I thought, since the person I was sending to was a lot younger, I would include a couple little things. They were only from the dollar store, but I thought if the kid was like me, a WHOLE bunch of things from the dollar store always looks more fun than just one thing from somewhere else. So I sent the package and was hoping that the person would like it.

I was told that it would arrive at a certain date and checked the tracking number to ensure. All I see is that it was delivered. I asked a couple times if my package was received yet...no answer. I SPECIFICALLY PM'd this person asking if she could just let me know if it was received because I don't want to be thought of as someone who didn't follow through, and still up until now this person has NOT responded either way. And I see them creating new posts, so I'm wondering if they even received my PM (as I've heard that PM's have been going a little weird) or if she's just ignoring it, which is TOTALLY irking me. I don't want to ask again because even though she may not have received the PM, I had asked on two other separate occasions and threads if my package had been received.

*sighs* I've just been having a bad day here at work too...

I just hate how straightforward things get all complicated and twisted because people just don't think. Ay-yay-yay...

To reiterate about the RAK, it's not even like I'm looking for a thank you, I don't really care all that much, I just want to know if the package that I sent was sent to the place and the person that I meant to send it to. Simple enough. From dollar store items, I ended paying more for shipping and I don't want the money I spent to just go to some random garbage can because it was sent to the wrong place.

Grrr...

*deep breaths*

Giving...

...in the words of Cher from Clueless:

"'Tis a far, far better thing doing stuff for other people..."

Ahhh, Shakespeare, eat your heart out!

But so true it is! I am so excited and giggly to be sending out this RAK to Nicole today! I asked her not to look here because I kind of wanted it to be a surprise, but seeing as she KNOWS I'm sending her the beads, it's not exactly 100% a surprise. I hate surprises and I don't keep secrets all that well...

Anyways, I did promise the girls that I would stop shopping so much and actually get something made and I said that I would try to make something with the beads tonight. And I did!

Thanks for looking!

...and if this is Nicole...

Tsk, tsk...LOL!

A new nook for me...

...over at Scribe's Nook!

I don't remember if I mentioned it yesterday, but I was driving home and I happened to glance at a shop called Scribe's Nook and my eyes zeroed in on the fact that it was a decorative stamp store. The irritating thing (besides finding out it was JUST right there, not more than 5 minutes away from my own house) was the fact that I'd been in this store before! Before I found out how fabulous stamping and colouring and cardmaking was!

So, it was closed yesterday and I said that I would go in today on my lunch hour as they're always just about to close every time I get off of work.

Can I tell you that I stood around with my head tilted up staring at the walls full of stamps with my mouth hanging open? There's so many stamps! And NICE stamps, not those weird-looking ones at M's for like, $29.99! I found these two cute little babies and made them MINE, ALL MINE:

I've loved these stamps ever since I first laid eyes on SusieB's cards. Since the shop was so close to the house, I ran home really quickly and stamped a couple onto some nice white cardstock! I loves them!

So to celebrate my wonderful little find, I'm offering a RAK for the next four commenters, if they wanted to play with some image stamps. I will message you or get in contact with you for your addresses. This'll also be the first time I'm sending out image stamps, so if anyone can also give me a heads-up on the standard way of doing it (what size paper do I stamp them on to send..etc.)

The other thing I was able to pick-up before I got ahold of my self-restraint:

Oh YAY! I was looking all over for these at M's and I can't believe I found it so close to my house! Perfect timing for Easter - my bunnies are going to be all nice and fluffy!

I can't wait to get home to play. Happy day-before-the-long weekend all!

RAKs...

...make the world go 'round.

Whoever said 'it is better to give than to receive' most definitely was on to something. I'm this type of person. While I do like getting presents and RAKs, I always love giving and planning and preparing. I always have ideas popping into my head after the initial idea.

Anyways, last week a Cricut sister posted a message on The Board asking for birthday cards for her little boy who would be turning 6 at the end of this month. She'd said he might have a hard time because his grandpa had recently passed away. Anyways, I made the card and wrote in it and because I had used a wooden piece on the card, I wasn't sure how much postage I would need, so on my lunch, I went over to the Post Office in my local Shoppers. As I was pulling into the parking lot, I glanced over and saw that a Dollarama was in the same plaza so I ducked in there first and grabbed some colouring books (notice the 'u' in my spelling - I'm Canadian!), crayons, puzzles, a yo-yo and candy and thought, well, if I'm going to be sending a birthday card, why not send a little birthday present! I know it wasn't much, but I'm hoping that six-year-old boys are like me, quantity over quality! Hahahaha...

I wish I'd had time to take a picture. I ran out of time over my lunch hour due to the lady working at the post office. I won't even go into detail over our little tiff, but let's just say that I'm fabulous and was the bigger person and I will be going to a different post office in the future.

Hope you have a happy birthday, Hunter!

My very first...

...So I went through my very first RAK - it was for no one on the boards, but an RAK nonetheless!

Work has been slowing down as the semester is drawing to a close and my coworkers and myself are pretty much just gearing up for the Spring term. I noticed one of my coworkers online and I asked what she was up to. She said she was ordering catalogues and I noticed that she was looking at a vacation catalogue and asked if she was planning on going somewhere nice to get away from all this snow. As it turns out, she said she was ordering them so that she could get something nice and colourful in the mail that had nothing to do with bills. Being single, she doesn't really get much mail other than bills.

It kind of hit me as a little sad (and true, the only thing I usually ever get is bills too - except for recently, and that's only because of my online shopping binge). So I went home and this past Monday I sent her my little lady bug card in the mail and didn't tell her so she'd have a nice little mail surprise. I'm usually not one for any kind of serious conversations - I tend to make jokes when I feel things getting heavy, so inside the card I just wrote:

So you have at least one thing in your mail that's not a bill or any kind of letter asking for money!

P.S. Can I borrow $5?

She got the card yesterday (I had no idea the mail could work that fast, I only dropped it off Monday morning! Which then leads me to think - WHERE'S MY STUFF?!) and this morning I got a nice, big hug and thank you!

And it made it worth parting with my sweet, little lady bug. Which is I guess what cards are for...to send people...I guess I'm going to have to get used to that part. Usually, after I make something, I love them all so much I don't feel like giving them away. Must keep practicing that part...

You've got mail...

...YAY! I got a package today - and this time I wasn't even looking for it! I went home really quick to get something I had forgotten and I opened my screen door and out fell a little box. And inside that box...was all 16 of my Stickles! My lovely, wonderful Stickles! After looking at all those wonderful, sparkly little bottles...I think I'm hooked! I need more colours!

Except, I have to go on a little ban. The Mister is thinking of changing companies and we may have a little set-back, and even if we don't, it's always a good idea to have a little bit saved in case we do have any set-backs in our future. So teeny, tiny cut-backs and I guess I'll have to start using what I already have. Which...when I look at it all, is quite a lot.

Because I've been putting things in nice compact storages, whenever I glance about, it doesn't feel like I have very much things. But when I actually think of it, I have tons!

So even though my Cuttlebug embossing folders and Scor-it and House Mouse stamps are nowhere to be seen, I did get something else that was really nice! Heather from The Board had posted an RAK (random act of kindness) offering to send four people some image stamps of these cute Penny Black (or House Mouse - I forget) bunnies dressed in Easter egg costumes for us to try out the magic pencils technique with the mineral spirits. She sent a bunch of stamps in a cute little card:

Thanks again, Heather! YAY for stuff in the mail! Here's for more things tomorrow!
