Flower power...

...while I definitely don't mean for this blog to be about the things I buy to scrapbook/cardmake, the fact that I'm waiting for a lot of things that will bring my scrapbooking/cardmaking to a whole new level is kind of taking over the actual scrapbooking/cardmaking. Did you follow that?

In any case, it's my blog and I can do what I want, so I'm going to keep talking about all the fun STUFF!!!

I got my first package today - I LOVE getting mail! Just a small one - the faux Prima flowers that I ordered on ebay! I got 200 flowers all together of different sizes and colours that I was able to choose (all for $8!) I can't WAIT to start making things!

I know it's silly of me as I was already making cards BEFORE the Cricut, but now that I know it exists, I feel like I can't make any until I get my Baby Bug! I got my Cuttlebug to keep me distracted, but seeing as how my Michael's sucks and barely carries an A2 embossing folders, I have to wait until my ebay order of embossing folders come. It just seems like I can't make anything really good until all my fun things get here.

I am so excited for the House Mouse stamps. Much coloring will ensue!

I was tempted to post a picture of my flowers...but I'm snuggled up in bed with The Mister and Season Four of Buffy and nothing less than the delivery of my Baby Bug will get me out of bed!

Eventually I'll be able to post some cards and other fun works...or maybe I should just change the title to Confessions of a Scrapping Shopaholic!

Home away from home...

...or home inside my home? Anyways, seeing as I'm antisocial in real-life, we don't have a lot of visitors staying the night too often so I have comandeered the guestroom and have turned it into my wonderful scrapping room. (The guestroom also doubles as The Mister's closet, seeing as how I took over the master bedroom's closet).

Come take a little tour with me...I haven't posted anything like this on the boards, as I still feel like quite the newbie, and also because some of the girls' rooms put mine to SUCH shame...that's okay, I'm just starting out - plenty of time to catch up! And so we go...

So here we are...the view from the door, I didn't want to focus on everything else in the room because it's messy. I make sure to clean my scrapping area, but everywhere else is a war zone...LOL...

Please note the essential part of the scrapping area, the pillow on the chair. This is a MUST-HAVE because my bum starts to hurt from sitting here too long looking through threads and making posts so I can graduate from a Baby Bug to a Lil' bug...


I was too lazy to rotate the picture, but you can see four files with handles ($1 each from Dollarama). One of the files has Primas - I'll have a better place to put them soon, another of the files have wooden shapes, and the other two files have 4x6 papers


Next drawer you'll see in the back corner a package of makeup sponges, haven't used them yet, but someone on the board mentioned them...so I got them. $1 from the dollar store as well. The red box contains assorted chipboard letters (three different colors - each colour set of alphabets $1 from the dollar store). The wooden box I had gotten intending to decorate it, but right now it is holding foam stickers (from the dollar store - am I getting reptitive). The two files are holding my Cuttlebug embossing folders and dies.


And the delight of the whole room (at least until my Cricut arrives and then it will take 2nd place), my beautiful Cuttlebug baby and the mats...


Ah-ha! An essential asset to stay connected to the message boards...and a great accomplice to keeping me connected to the people who keep enabling me to buy things! Also will be very useful for when I have acquired Design Studio


Absolutely necessary for me to have beside me...so I can buy all the things everyone on the board is talking about!


Paper, paper and more paper. Also 3D stickers and other embellies that don't fit into my sticker binder...


Speaking of which...my sticker binder. Lost count how many pages, but each page protector holds stickers of different categories and different kinds of stickets etc. (most of these from the $1 of course!)

To keep up my strength without have to leave the room...LOL. And because they taste delicious!

The fun part! I LOOOOVES embellies. They just add so much more to a card or layout. The ones in the jars I got from the dollar stores. Oh I forgot to move the smaller jars out of the way...the first small jar holds my blending stubs. In the plastic storage containers are just more smaller embellies and my small punches.

And last but not least, the bins (of course, from the dollar store) The circular bin holds my stamping things...so far a couple of ink pads, two wooden stamps and my clear stamps...plus some embossing powders. The middle bin has all my essential materials, glue/tapes, foam dots, some ribbons, and paper cutters, the last bin has the artsy things, prismas, pastels, blending chalks, mona lisa, sponges and my eyelet tool kit

So here's my work area for now...it'll all get changed around again I'm sure once my Cricut baby makes its way home!

So far, I've been on here talking about scrapping and my scrapping area, but I actually haven't really done much scrapping as of late...but it's fun to know I have a lot of STUFF to use when I decide to get down to it!

Just ONE more thing...

...what I was telling myself as I click-clicked and ta-da! more new things on its way to my door!

In less than a week...from February 27 until today, these are the things making their way home to me!

1 Cricut machine - even though I don't even have it yet, I'm already wishing I had just gone for it and gotten the Big Bug as they call it! All you enablers out there...I think one of the main reasons why I just decided to get the bug was that there was a special TV offer where I can make 5 easy payments instead of one huge payment...

2 cartridges - I don't even HAVE the Cricut yet and I've fallen victim to those enablers yet again! I figured, I'm waiting and waiting and killing myself more waiting for the Cricut to arrive, I might as well cut the waiting time short with some cartridges because I KNOW I'll want to have different times after I've had a chance to play around with the Bug. At this rate, I think the cartridges will be here before the Bug.

5 packages of Prima flowers - some sampler flowers that I'm really wanting as everyone else seems to have them (BAD reason, but I really did want flowers). Plus the scrapbook stores have marked them up a LOT (and these ones were $1/package!!!)

2 packages of rhinestones - I bought from this seller on ebay and used the rhinestones for the wedding invitations and the girls' t-shirts from the stag and doe and the rhinestones are FABULOUS. Now I just need to remember where my heat applicator is...(plus, they're really cheap!)

1 Scor-it - I was going for a Scor-pal and I cannot BELIEVE ebay failed me! They had NONE! They barely had any Scor-its listed, but one look at SusieB's work with the Cuttlebug (oh yeah...more on that later) and Scor-pal and you'll know why I deemed it essential that I own one too...

25 acrylic stamps - in my defense, they were sold as a whole package and they were $1 each. I have fallen in love with the stamping work that the girls on the board have done and one day I hope to use one of the ones I do in a card...(more on the stamping and other materials involved with that)

16 Ranger Stickles - apparently, these are THE things to have when wanting to apply a little bling-age to cards and layouts. I bought glitter glue from the dollar store and I'm hoping that these blow them out of the water. They weren't $1 but I'm expecting big things from these...

2 different shipments of Cuttlebug embossing folders
2 in one shipment and
7 in the other - because not only does Cuttlebug NEED more embossing folders, I need more embossing folders. And they are more than half-price less than they sell at Michaels.

So these are the things that are being shipped to me at some point...I'm hoping all SOONER rather than later...

These are the things that I had to have at the moment and wasn't really going to wait to order...

Cuttlebug - when I ordered the Cricut, I said I didn't need a Cuttlebug because Cuttlebug's are die cutters and I already had a shape cutter on the way. Then I learned that the Cuttlebug can emboss. From SusieB once again...take one look at her cards and you KNOW you have to have a Cuttlebug. It's imperative...

Well, as Michael's is the asolute tightwad of making innocent scrappers like me buy things for way more than they should cost, the Cuttlebug only included 4 little embossing folders and not really any of the ones I wanted. So I had to buy 2 embossing folders so I could see what the Cuttlebug could do ASAP.

As I also wanted to try the stamping technique that SusieB is a fan of, I needed to have stamps. I was lucky enough to come across the cutest acrylic stamps for only $1.50 (there's four stamps in a package), I kind of negated that purchase when I also needed to get a clear acrylic block and archiver's ink...and to colour the stamps once I've stamped them, I needed Prismacolors and Gamsol (or what they like to refer to as odorless mineral spirits). So I got those as well...Q-tips weren't doing a good enough job to blend the colours, so I had to get blending stumps as well. Four in a package, thank goodness...

Let me think...what else have I acquired just recently...oh right, some blending chalks, eyelet tool kit (which was on clearance may I add), some paper and storage items and a bunch of things from the dollar store - even though I'm saying they don't count, with the amount of things that I've bought, I'm sure it's adding up.

Notice how I'm not brave enough to put how much I actually spent on these things...

Ignorance is bliss...

...it is also broke.

Just one more thing...

I'm the kind of person that likes the lead up to things...

I like the planning and preparation for a trip rather than going on one...
I like the planning and preparation of a party rather than going to one...

I just love know that I've got everything together and that I'm prepared.

I think that's the same with scrapbooking/cardmaking.

It has been almost a week since I ordered my Cricut and I have been on one crazed spree in preparation.

I also kind of blame the message boards. I look at what everyone is making and what everyone is using and they're talking of how great it is and all I can think is "I WANT ONE TOO!" And it's not stopping there...over the week, I have pretty much gotten everything that I've read about on the post.

The sad thing is...I haven't made one layout or one card since I discovered the Cricut. Every time I sit down and try to make something, a little voice just keeps saying that it would look better if done with a Cricut, if done with this, or done with that...whatever.

I ordered the Cricut, and from the boards, I learned what a Cuttlebug was and ordered that too. Of course, the Cuttlebug doesn't really come with anything useful so I had to buy some embossing folders to go with them. Michael's didn't have enough so I went online and ordered more. 10 to be exact...I think...it could be more actually. Then I started reading about people stamping cards and colouring them so I went out and bought Prisma Colours (OMG, not just ANY pencil crayons...$40 pencil crayons, and that was the CHEAPEST) and the odourless mineral spirit which I have no idea what it is, but I bought it anyways. I got the blending stumps because someone said that Q-Tips just didn't cut it. I got some stamps but Michael's didn't have the cute ones that the message board people did so I ordered those online too. What's worse than having ordered all these things (I'm leaving some things out because I'm starting to freak out about everything that I ordered) is that I have to WAIT for all these things to get to me. I'm a now kind of person and this waiting is killing me...

Note to self: I still haven't made anything...
